Este é o quarto livro da saga "A Demanda da Relíquia" da autoria de Bernard Cornwell. Este livro foi a minha primeira leitura em inglês.
Neste livro continuamos a seguir as aventuras de Thomas de Hookton, um arqueiro veterano da batalha de Crecy, que agora lidera um grupo de mercenários na França.
Como nos livros que li de Cornwell, este tem uma mistura entre factos verídicos e ficcionais mas que estão muito bem conjugados e que formam um excelente enredo.
A descrição da batalha de Poitiers está magnificamente escrita, tanto em termos tácticos, como em relação a luta selvática dos seus participantes para conseguir bater os seus opositores.
O facto de ser a minha primeira leitura em inglês não dificultou muito a leitura. Futuramente deverei ler mais livros em inglês tanto para aprofundar mais o meu conhecimento sobre a língua como pela parte económica visto que os livros em inglês são muito mais baratos.
Bernard Cornwell é sem dúvida um dos meus autores preferidos no romance histórico. Este livro foi só mais uma prova do seu enorme talento em contar histórias de guerra.
